"A classroom without management becomes an unmanageable classroom."

of Classroom Management

There are many different definitions of classroom management.  Discipline is usually the first thought that comes to mind when educators think of classroom management.  However, classroom management is a multifaceted endeavor, which involves not only discipline.   Classroom management consists of procedures, routines, systems and beliefs that exist within a classroom to PROGRAM student behavior.  Therefore, you can think of classroom management as behavior management.  Proactive educators who consistently implement management strategies are able to devote more time to instruction.   These educators establish procedures and routines that prevent instructionally distractive behaviors from ever entering their classrooms.  By spending more time setting up their classrooms, these educators spend less time managing problems throughout the school year.
